The ISC is more than just a soccer camp for Native youth…it’s a National Native Youth Leadership Conference and serves as an effort to promote healthy living, preparing Native youth with skills for their future! The Indigenous Soccer Cup (ISC) provides leadership development, team building exercises, life skill sessions, health and wellness sessions, and college preparation through workshops and service learning projects. All attendees take a tour of the college campus at the University of New Mexico.
In the summer of 2007, 275 Indigenous youth from across the United States and Canada gathered at the University of New Mexico to compete in the 1st Annual Indigenous Soccer Cup. The ISC is recognized as a National Native Youth Leadership Conference and is coming into its eleventh year. Since its inception, the ISC has been hosted at the University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University, Santa Fe Indian School, Bosque School, and the Native American Community Academy.
